Patrick Mahomes criticized by radio host for his dad-bod: ‘He’s fat’

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes faced criticism from a sports radio host this week over his physical appearance in recent vacation photos, with the host calling the the three-time Super Bowl champion “fat” and “an embarrassment.”

On Monday’s episode of the “Kevin Kietzman Has Issues” podcast, he brought up Mahomes’ appearance in a picture that was shared on social media.

“Vacation photos are popping up of Patrick Mahomes and he’s fat,” Kietzman said. “I’m going to say it and I’m going to tell you the truth. That’s why you hit the play button. He’s an embarrassment. You’re a $500 million quarterback. You’ve made all these comments in the offseason that ‘We’re going to do our talking on the field,’ and ‘We got our butts kicked in the Super Bowl and we’re coming back with a vengeance.’ Dude, you’re fat. Your belly would be fat at my pool hanging out with us 60-year-olds. My skin is as flabby as yours. I get it. Stop the fast food. Do a situp. Do something.”

Kietzman said he believed Mahomes was doing some arm training but said core training was needed.

“I don’t understand it,” Kietzman said. “He’s not a kid anymore. You can’t just run through your NFL career eating Taco Bell all the time and DoorDashing fried chicken, which he loves from that one place over in Leawood (located in Kansas City suburbs) where he gets it all the time.”

Mahomes has not been the only player to have his weight criticized this offseason. Washington Commanders wide receiver Deebo Samuel looked bigger in OTAs and minicamp practices than he did when he was with the San Francisco 49ers, leading to former players pointing out the increased weight.

It is not uncommon for many football players to shed weight right before training camp and be at their normal playing weight by the start of the regular season, but there is a chance another player’s weight will be discussed in the near future.
