Player set for move to Ligue 1 after snubbing Nottingham Forest

Juventus winger Timothy Weah is set for a move to Ligue 1 this summer, after turning down a switch to Nottingham Forest.

That’s according to Tuttosport, who report that a deal with Marseille is in the final stages, and he is ready to say goodbye to the Bianconeri.

They explain that Juventus’ transfer window is currently in flux, with the club keen to reshape the squad. That will see several players move on and Weah is one of them.

He’s been linked with a move for weeks and Nottingham Forest pushed early in this summer window to try and do some sort of deal with Juventus for him. Weah, though, was not keen on that and the idea was rejected.

Now it appears he is on his way to France, with Tuttosport reporting that he is one step closer to a move to Marseille.

He is close to agreeing a deal worth €2.5m per year with Roberto de Zerbi’s side, but an agreement between the two sides is not yet close. Juventus want €15m but Marseille want to play less. They would even like a loan with a right or obligation to buy tied to certain conditions being met.

There’s still plenty left to be negotiated but a deal is moving nonetheless, with Marseille having picked up the thread after Nottingham Forest’s attempt to sign him failed.
