Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson left a heartfelt message to Diogo Jota at Anfield as he paid his respects to the Portugal forward following the tragic news of his passing last Thursday.
Robertson made the trip to Anfield where thousands of supporters — of Liverpool and many others — have laid out tributes to Jota and his brother, Andre Silva. Scarves, shirts and flowers have been left outside the Main Stand, while a book of condolences was opened for anyone wanting to leave written tributes.
"MacJota, our hearts are broken but feeling very grateful for the memories you gave us all!" Robertson wrote. "I will miss you, love you brother. Robbo."
Robertson was among Jota’s closest friends. He attended the striker’s wedding to long-term partner Rute less than two weeks before his passing.
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot also visited Anfield alongside his wife, Mirjam. FSG CEO of football Michael Edwards, who was instrumental in signing Jota from Wolves in 2020, also left a floral tribute.
Slot's message read: "Diogo, We had the same dream and we fulfilled it together. Andre and yourself will forever be in our hearts. Arne, Mirjam, Isa and Joep."

He had earlier said in a statement released last Thursday: "That we have lost those qualities in such terrible circumstances is something we have not yet come to terms with.
"For this reason, we need everyone at the club to stand together and to be there for one another. We owe this to Diogo, to Andre Silva, to their wider family and to ourselves.
"My condolences go to Diogo’s wife, Rute, their three beautiful children and to the parents of Diogo and Andre Silva.
"When the time is right, we will celebrate Diogo Jota, we will remember his goals and we will sing his song. For the time being, we will remember him as a unique human being and mourn his loss. He will never be forgotten. His name is Diogo."

Edwards' tribute at Anfield read: "With love and remembrance. In honour of Diogo Jota. Down to earth, determined, a great finisher and above all, loved and respected by all who knew him.
"He gave everything to the team, with quiet strength and unwavering humility. His impact reached far beyond the pitch. Our thoughts are with his family and everyone who held him dear. Rest in peace Diogo, from Michael Edwards and family."
Liverpool has begun to return for pre-season training this week and will take on Preston North End at Deepdale on Sunday in a fixture that will be televised by ITV Sport in the UK.
