It's been a busy offseason for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who recently signed prized free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers, hoping to fortify that position going forward. The Steelers have also acquired wide receiver DK Metcalf and traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys as part of a slew of moves to restructure their offense heading into 2025-26.
Recently, former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had some jokes about just how much the team has changed in a short amount of time this offseason.
“Recently for Christmas this last year they each got two I think. They got a Najee (Harris), an Alex (Highsmith), Minkah (Fitzpatrick), and a (George) Pickens. No joke. So let’s think about those now,” said Roethlisberger, per his own Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger podcast. “We’re batting twenty five percent.”
Roethlisberger also broke down his mindset when it comes to jersey shopping.
“When you’re thinking about jerseys to get, you’re looking at who’s going to be here for a while. And you’re thinking all those felt pretty steady,” he said. “I mean there was some stuff about you know potentially George but he’s still young, still had some years. Like he’s got to be here for a couple of years. So now they have one left. Steelers, don’t you dare get rid of Alex for lots of reasons.”
Minkah Fitzpatrick was also part of a recent transaction from the Steelers that brought in veteran cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Miami Dolphins.

The Steelers are hoping that this slew of moves will be enough to vault the team back into contention next year.
The headline signing of course was Aaron Rodgers, who had a rough season last year with the New York Jets but is hoping that a change of scenery will help him restore his career.
The Steelers haven't had consistent quarterback play since Roethlisberger was under center nearly a decade ago, and that fact has been a big reason why Pittsburgh hasn't been able to advance very far in the playoffs despite consistently trotting out one of the league's best defenses.
The Steelers' 2025 season will get underway in early September.
