PHOTOS: Washington Commanders revive championship look for 2025 season’s alternate jersey

The Washington Commanders will revive an old look for the D.C. team’s alternate jersey during the upcoming 2025 season.

The NFL team released its new alternate “Super Bowl Era” uniforms and helmet Wednesday, the same day the franchise was established 93 years ago.

The “Super Bowl Era” theme pays homage to the era when Washington won three Super Bowls in the 1980s and 1991 with a burgundy helmet featuring the Commanders’ “W” logo. It has gold and white stripes down the middle of the helmet with a gold face mask, while the jersey is white with burgundy pants.

“These uniforms recognize the most successful era of our franchise — one that reflects a culture of excellence and encompasses many historical moments and special memories amongst our fanbase,” Commanders team president Mark Clouse said in a statement. “Our coaches, players and the entire organization could not be more excited to celebrate our team’s legacy while creating new memories in these uniforms this season.”

The uniform will make its playing debut Nov. 2 when the Commanders host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football. Washington will also wear the alternates Nov. 30 at home against the Denver Broncos and Christmas Day against the Dallas Cowboys.

The jerseys will be available for purchase in early September, and fans can sign up to receive notifications from jersey supplier Fanatics on when to order. According to a news release, fans can visit Store.Commanders.com, Fanatics.com and NFLShop.com to buy the Super Bowl Era helmets and other merchandise related to the theme.

The Commanders currently have three other uniform combinations: its home jersey, which features burgundy as the primary color, white jerseys and all-black alternate uniforms, which pay homage to the military and D.C.
