It has become a poisoned chalice at Huddersfield Town as Lee Grant is set to be the 10th manager to take charge when the new season commences. However, they have shown ambition in the transfer window and are now targeting a player who was a standout in the EFL last season.
The 2024/25 campaign turned out to be a disaster, and Michael Duff was dismissed in March with the Terriers losing their last six matches to end up in 10th place in League One.
2025/26 should see them start as one of the favourites for promotion, and their dealings in the window indicate ambition ahead of the new campaign.
Huddersfield Town Add Quality in Transfer Window
The backline has seemingly been one of the main areas targeted for improvement, as impressive central defensive duo Sean Roughan and Joe Low have been brought in from Lincoln City and Wycombe Wanderers, respectively. Those two would arguably be in the top five of the standout players in their role in League One.
They will be joined by the experienced Murray Wallace, who has joined from Championship Millwall. A new look-defence may be in order, as Owen Goodman has joined on loan from Crystal Palace. The 21-year-old played a starring role in AFC Wimbledon’s promotion to the third tier last season.
Marcus Harness and Ryan Ledson add quality further up the pitch in what is shaping up to be an impressive Huddersfield Town side. They may be about to sign another player who had an exceptional season in the EFL last campaign, if reports are to be believed.
Terriers Leading Chase For Former Bromley Loanee
Danny Imray had excelled in the Crystal Palace development side ahead of joining League Two Bromley last season. He would go on to make 43 appearances and register seven assists in an excellent first full campaign of senior football from a right-sided midfield role.
Imray created ten big chances to sit joint top of the charts at Bromley in that metric. He was ranked first for key passes and successful dribbles per game, and no Bromley player won more penalties than his three. It is no surprise that he is attracting interest this summer, and Alan Nixon (paywall) is now reporting that Huddersfield Town are leading the chase for his signature.
Bromley manager Andy Woodman was full of praise for the loanee in April after a win over Morecambe. According to Inside Futbol, the manager said:
“Superb, Danny. I mean, he has been brilliant, hasn’t he? let’s be honest”,
“And yet again, his explosiveness, his end product, and he is just a bag of energy, isn’t he? It is not easy to keep him quiet.
“It was a great touch and then to move the ball when the guy thinks he is going to win it, it was a great bit of skill.”
The deal could be another loan or a permanent move, but it would seem logical for the player to move up a division to the third tier after impressing in League Two.
