The 21-year-old arrived at Villa from Lubin in 2020 and has since established himself as a key figure at youth level for both the U18s and U21s.

He spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Puszcza Niepolmice where he made 26 appearances in an important step in his ongoing development and improvement, and there was a decision needed on his future this summer to determine where he would be next season.
According to Polish journalist [Tomasz Wlodarcyzk](https://x.com/wlodar85/status/1942964063497031720), Zych is closing in on a loan move to Rakow Czestochowa, with the deal said to be in the final stages and should be completed this week.
It’s a sensible move for the talented youngster as he’ll have a better chance of securing regular and consistent playing time to continue to improve his game and gain valuable experience at a higher level, and so he’ll hope to make sure it’s a productive stint if the move goes through as expected.
There is a decision to be made by Unai Emery this summer when it comes to his pecking order at Villa between the posts though, as with Robin Olsen departing following the expiration of his contract, that leaves a gap that must be filled in our goalkeeper ranks.
Despite significant speculation, Emiliano Martinez is still at the club and will continue as No.1 should that remain the case when the new campaign gets underway, while Joe Gauci is likely to step up and fill the No.2 role having had his loan experience last season.
That in turn led to the potential of Zych perhaps being promoted up a spot to third-choice goalkeeper as a younger option for the long-term future, but he is seemingly now set to move elsewhere in the more immediate period.
Time will tell then if it is Martinez and Gauci followed by a possible new signing, with Filip Marschall still currently on the books too.
A lot will of course depend on the Argentine’s future and whether or not he’s still a Villa player in mid-August, but at least one signing in that department is expected between now and the start of the new season.
