Newcastle United may look to the Championship to replace Sean Longstaff, to a player Frank Lampard suggests was better than he was in one key aspect.
Indeed, Longstaff could leave Newcastle United, although a move to Leeds may have broken down after they saw an offer rejected.
The Newcastle United academy graduate has previously been a key player under Eddie Howe but lost his starting place after Sandro Tonali returned from a ten-month ban from football due to the breaking of betting rules.
Longstaff has been a brilliant servant to his boyhood club but Newcastle are seemingly ready to move on.
Any money received for him would go down as ‘pure profit’ on the club’s balance sheet, which would help further balance the books with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Selling makes sense, even if it will be an emotional parting of the ways. Still, Newcastle are eyeing a potential replacement, a player rated highly by a Premier League legend in Lampard.

According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle are interested in Coventry City’s Jack Rudoni.
In fact, there’s said to be a belief that the former Wimbledon and Huddersfield midfielder is the best player outside the Premier League.

Newcastle do plan to replace Longstaff if he does leave, although central midfield is not expected to be a priority.
The club will explore the market for potential options if Leeds do get their man, however.
What Frank Lampard has said about Jack Rudoni
Lampard, one of the greatest midfielders English football has ever produced, has been full of praise for Rudoni.
The Coventry boss even admitted his midfielder is better in the air than he ever was, which is saying something.
Rudoni has scored 14 headers throughout his career, while Lampard’s total stood at 16.
Speaking back in May, Lampard said of his midfielder (via BBC Sport): “I talk to Rudoni a lot, he is a great kid. Every day he wants to get better. I never had that [heading ability]. He beats me with that. He is constant energy. He can be the main man of the day.”
