£55m deal could trigger domino effect for Alejandro Garnacho to leave Man United

Manchester United are still hopeful that they can find a willing buyer for Alejandro Garnacho this summer.

This week marked the start of pre-season training at Manchester United, but Alejandro Garnacho has been a notable absentee.

That is because Ruben Amorim told Garnacho to avoid Carrington as work continues to find him a new club this summer.

Garnacho’s comments after the Europa League final appear to have been the final straw, with Amorim now accepting that he is no longer part of his long-term project at United.

United want £70m for Garnacho this summer, and he is open to leaving but would prefer to stay in the Premier League.

Chelsea £55m deal could trigger Alejandro Garnacho domino effect

Garnacho has been linked with Chelsea, but the Blues are yet to make an approach for the 21-year-old this summer.

It has been reported that United could swap Garnacho for Christopher Nkunku, but with Matheus Cunha signed and talks ongoing for Bryan Mbeumo, the Red Devils don’t need another attacking midfielder.

Ineos would prefer a direct sale for Garnacho, and Chelsea’s latest transfer activity suggests it could still be on the cards.

If Chelsea raise funds through the sale of Madueke, it would not only help them to afford Garnacho, but they would also need a replacement out wide.

Ruben Amorim wants Alejandro Garnacho sold quickly

The Europa League defeat was a miserable end to the season for United and Garnacho made it worse with his post-match comments.

Amorim told Garnacho to find a new club directly after the match, with reports suggesting he told him: “You better pray that you can find a club to sign you”.

Ideally, Amorim wanted United’s sales done before the start of pre-season training, but Ineos have let Amorim down with the lack of activity this summer.

It appears as though Garnacho’s time as a United player is up, and the controversy around Garnacho wearing Rashford’s Aston Villa shirt hasn’t helped his popularity over the summer.

United will be keen to open talks with Chelsea for Garnacho, and the Madueke deal could help make it happen.
