**Newcastle United and Anthony Elanga have been putting the final touches on the Sweden international's £55m move from Nottingham Forest today.**

Anthony Elanga flew into Newcastle from Portugal on Tuesday to undergo his medical ahead of a big-money move from Nottingham Forest.

According to Sky Sports' Keith Downie, Elanga has now passed his medical and will complete the paperwork today to finalise the switch.

It will mark the end of a long-term pursuit for Eddie Howe, who identified Elanga as an ideal player for his style of play a long time ago.

Newcastle and Anthony Elanga deal is all but done

-------------------------------------------------

Newcastle have made several attempts to land Elanga in the past, with a deadline day Hail Mary bid placed on transfer deadline day last summer.

The Magpies were sniffing around Elanga again in January as they worked on moving Miguel Almiron out of the club, but given the season Nottingham Forest were having and the huge part Elanga was playing in it, it was never going to lead to anything.

Finally, it looks as though Newcastle have got their man, and barring any freak occurrences, we should expect an official announcement from the club soon.

We'd be surprised if the official announcement arrives in the next 48 hours

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we say 'soon', we'd rather not try and put a timeline on it, as Newcastle haven't exactly been very forthcoming with announcements of player arrivals. Fans usually hear about a deal being done days before the club says anything official.

The main thing is, though, this one looks about as done as it can be without the official announcement, and Newcastle now have some of the fastest players in the Premier League.

Elanga clocked in a 100m sprint under 11 seconds, while Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak, and Will Osula are all equally as rapid. We can't wait to watch this team on the transition next season.
