Arsenal have submitted a £50 million offer for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke as they step up efforts to strengthen their attack ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The 23-year-old, who joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in 2023, has emerged as a key target for Mikel Arteta’s side, with personal terms already agreed between the player and the Gunners. Arsenal are now focused on reaching a deal with Chelsea, who are understood to be holding out for a fee in excess of £50 million for the England international.

According to The Times, Madueke has been identified as a more affordable and accessible alternative to several high-profile attacking targets. The Gunners have been linked with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams in recent weeks, but each option poses financial or logistical complications.

Rodrygo’s £69 million valuation and uncertain future at Madrid under new manager Xabi Alonso make him a difficult target, while Gordon and Rogers have seen their market values surge after strong domestic seasons. Williams, despite having a €58 million release clause, has high wage demands and a preference to remain in Spain with Barcelona before signing a new long-term contract.

In contrast, Madueke offers a cost-effective solution, with Arsenal impressed by his pace, direct style, and ability to play on either wing. The winger featured in 64 matches for Chelsea last season, including appearances in the FIFA Club World Cup, showcasing his ability to perform on big stages.

Arteta is keen to add depth to his squad following a demanding 58-game season across all competitions. Madueke’s versatility could see him provide cover for Bukayo Saka on the right and compete with Gabriel Martinelli on the left, areas where Arsenal are eager to bolster options ahead of another title challenge.

Despite Arsenal’s progress in agreeing terms with the player, Chelsea’s valuation remains a sticking point. The deal may also be complicated by Premier League squad registration rules, with Madueke’s non-homegrown status a factor in Arsenal’s calculations.
