Former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark says 2026 is the year the team needs to fully commit to going for a quarterback in the NFL Draft.
The Steelers, who have accumulated a war chest of draft picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, are set to have all the ammunition they would need to move up in that draft. Clark says they need to sell the farm if necessary to go find that next guy.
“I think Aaron’s going to play well and I think the team’s going to be good –– like a 10-win team. And guess what? Next year, you’re still looking for a quarterback,” Clark said on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast, which isa production of Yote House Media. “And you’ve been there every year…In my opinion, they’re going to end up there again this year… So I said it on TV and people got mad at me like, ‘Oh, you hate the Steelers.’ I was like, ‘No, we need to be atrocious!’ Like, they need to be awful. To me, the only answer is this: with the picks you have, you sell the farm to get the guy next year.”
The draft will be held in Pittsburgh, which will only heighten the calls for the Steelers to make a move for their quarterback. However, with Aaron Rodgers on just a one-year deal and the team loading up for the 2026 NFL Draft class, it seems likely they are gearing up to make a move up the board if needed.
