Pittsburgh Steelers Linked to Big Trade to Land Aaron Rodgers More Help Before 2025 Season

Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping to make a run for a championship during the upcoming 2025 NFL season. It is clear that the front office has Super Bowl aspirations with the moves that they made this offseason.

Bringing in Rodgers was just one of the big additions. The Steelers also acquired star wide receiver DK Metcalf and star cornerback Jalen Ramsey in trades. Jonnu Smith was also included in the trade to acquire Ramsey.

Pittsburgh is tired of losing in the playoffs. Mike Tomlin has found a lot of regular season success, but the postseason has been a different story in recent years.

With that being said, could the Steelers look to pull off another major move ahead of the 2025 season? That is exactly what one NFL analyst has suggested.

In a recent projection, Cody Williams of FanSided had Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs heading to Pittsburgh. Doubs would reunite with his former quarterback from his rookie season.

“The wheeling-and-dealing Steelers are the most obvious option for a Doubs trade. With the arrival of Aaron Rodgers, Omar Khan’s actions have indicated that the franchise is all-in on trying to make a Super Bowl run this season,” Williams wrote.

“To do that, though, I’d still argue that they can’t go into the year with Calvin Austin III as their second receiving option. Doubs would be a dream opposite DK Metcalf and, if Pittsburgh is willing to part with more draft capital, he seems attainable.”

Doubs could be exactly what the Steelers’ offense is currently missing. He has shown signs of being a highly productive wideout with the Packers, but the fact of the matter is that Green Bay has had so many weapons that no one is used heavily.

He has played three years for the Packers, racking up 147 receptions for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns in 43 career games. Those numbers would fit in nicely as a No. 2 option behind Metcalf for Pittsburgh.

It’s unclear whether or not Green Bay would be open to trading Doubs. However, if the Steelers came in with an aggressive offer, they might be able to steal him away from the Packers.
