Four wingers that Everton should target this summer

Why the winger position needs addressing?

David Moyes’s side are known for its organization, solidity and effective in transition, so the Blues need to target wingers with pace and good one v one takes on like what Iliman Ndiaye produced in his debut campaign for the Toffees .

Last season the output from Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison was non-existent so it’s essential that the output from out wide improves but also what they offer defensively is vitally important which has been shown under David Moyes.

With the club having the likes of Dwight McNeil and Ndiaye who contributed to an Everton side which has lacked any spark of creativity, and the loan of Carlos Alcaraz it can be a varied front three, behind the striker as **Everton**look to start life at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

So who should Everton target and what would they bring?

Johan Bakayoko PSV

Transfer value: £30.00m Contract: 30th June 2026

Linked with a move to Nottingham Forest Bakayoko could finally solve Everton’s right hand side issue. The Belgium international is highly regarded scoring 12 times last season as PSV were crowned Eredivisie champions.

The 22-year-old is certainly a winger that has been missing at Everton due to the sheer impact he has. Last season he created 4.5 shot created actions per 90 and 2.28 successful takes on (Iliman Ndiaye got 2.52) and averages 7.41 progressive carries per 90.

With just a year left of his contract could Everton convince him to swap Eindhoven for Bramley-Moore?

Paul Nebel Mainz 05

Transfer value: £24.00m Contract: 30th June 2027

The 22-year-old was a key component for Mainz last season registering 10 goals and four assists in 31 Bundesliga games as Mainz finished 6th last season and qualified for the Europa Conference League.

Nebel is similar to Everton’s current wide options but can also operate centrally and impressed in Euro under 21s as Germany finished runners up to England.

One thing that could interest David Moyes is the defensive output that Nebel produces per 90. Last season the winger made 2.07 blocks per 90 and 1.46 tackles and is prepaid to do the ugly side of the game which is needed in an industrial **David Moyes**’s side.

Roger Fernandes SC Braga

Transfer value: £22.00m Contract: 30th June 2028

Fernandes is a pacey raw winger who can operate on either side who would add pace and athleticism to the side. At just 19 the under 21 Portuguese international has played 85 times for Braga.

Last season Fernandes makes 2.12 tackles per 90 and 4.71 progressive carries. What stands out is the 1.86 successful take-ons and with Ndiaye on the other side Everton would certainly have two tricky wingers on their hands.

Transfer value: £20.00m Contract: 30th June 2026

A key player as England u21s defended their crown against Germany it seems certain that McAtee will look to depart Manchester City this summer in search of regular first team football. While on loan at Sheffield United in 2023/24 getting 3 goals and 3 assists but it was good enough to be kept around Manchester City last season round.

Still only 22 McAtee scored 7 goals as a ‘bit-par’ player for Pep Guardiola but was captain for Lee Carsley during the under 21 European Championships.

Other potential winger Everton could target is Feyenoord’s Igor Paixao who got 16 goals and 10 assist in 34 games.

All these options would inject Everton with more pace and would become more threating in counter attacking moments but also, release the pressure of **Ndiaye**to produce a moment out of nothing.

During his first period at the club Moyes knew how to get value for money and Evertonians will hope that trend will continue as they hope to look upwards rather than behind.
