The NFL offseason is firmly in July, meaning Chicago Bears fans have [already seen plenty of players leave the Windy City](https://dawindycity.com/former-bear-who-left-sadly-off-great-start-new-team-01jypp2p76xz) throughout the last three months. Although it was tougher to say goodbye to some names compared to others, most of the Bears' offseason departures were necessary as head coach Ben Johnson prepares for Year 1 behind Chicago's bench.
Veteran offensive tackle Larry Borom was one of the many players who left Chicago in free agency this spring. After spending four seasons with the franchise, the former 2021 fifth-round pick signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Miami Dolphins, seeking a fresh start.
Although joining the Dolphins will give him a clean slate, there's a good chance that the ex-Bear will sabotage his new team from the inside.
Former Bears OL Larry Borom Will Sabotage Dolphins in 2025
----------------------------------------------------------
It isn't a secret among Bears fans that Borom's tenure was far from the most memorable.
The ex-Missouri product has played only 47 games across the last four seasons, including 27 starts. He appeared to be on pace for a significant offensive line role early in his run, but that dream was crushed due to his frequent injuries, including when he played a career-low eight games in 2024.
Whenever he was healthy, Borom's performance wasn't much to write home about. He surrendered 93 quarterback pressures (59 hurries, 20 sacks, 14 QB hits) while taking 16 penalties since the start of the 2021 campaign. His play also worsened as time went on, proven by his allowing 47 pressures on 462 passing downs in the last two seasons compared to 46 on 679 during his first two years in the league.
That's without mentioning last season's [disappointing _Pro Football Focus_ grades](https://premium.pff.com/nfl/players/2024/REGPO/larry-borom/59879/offense-blocking), which include underwhelming marks for offense (53.8), run blocking (51.7), and pass protection (56.2).
Borom is more suited to be a backup OL, and could hurt the Dolphins if he's thrust into a bigger role. Much to their dismay, that could be a possibility next season. Starting Miami RT Austin Jackson has only played 26 games across the last three seasons due to various ailments and just suffered a season-ending knee injury this past November.
In other words, if Jackson's issues persist and force Borom into a starting job, Miami's offensive upside and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's health could be in jeopardy.
Borom isn't the Bears' problem anymore, though, meaning fans won't complain about watching him from the outside once. Chicago already made the right choice to cut ties with the veteran blocker, and that decision will look even better if he can't find success in Miami.
