Commanders’ Tunsil named to NFL Top 100 list by fellow players

The Washington Commanders made their first appearance this year on the NFL’s annual Top 100 list on Wednesday.

Newly acquired left tackle Laremy Tunsil was voted the 86th-best player in the league by his peers.

The NFL Top 100, now in its 15th season, allows active NFL players to rank their colleagues based on their performance in the most recent season. This year, the rankings have been unveiled one at a time on social media.

The reveals began on June 30 and will wrap up on Sept. 1, when the Top 10 are announced on NFL Network.

“He’s one of the best left tackles in this league,” said running back Joe Mixon, who played behind Tunsil on the Houston Texans last season. “He does everything the right way in the way that he prepares each and every week. The guy’s a monster.”

Tunsil was named to his 5th Pro Bowl last season. Still, the Ole Miss product dropped in this year’s rankings. He was ranked 71st by his fellow players last summer.

“L.T. is just one of those guys where he doesn’t even have to do much,” Texans edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. said. “He can just stay over to the side and come Sunday, he’s not going to give up a pressure. He’s not going to give up a sack.”

The Commanders sent a second-round pick, a third-round selection, a fourth-round pick and a seventh-rounder to the Texans to land Tunsil this offseason.
