The Miami Dolphins have often been at the center of the 2025 offseason. The team has undergone major changes throughout the draft and free agency, and recently traded away star cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith, further signaling a changing of the guard. One player who remains on the roster, though, is wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
Hill had a down year by his lofty standards in 2024, catching 81 passes for 959 yards and six touchdowns. It was, statistically, his least productive season since 2019, when he played in just 12 games for the Kansas City Chiefs. Hill has been rumored to be on the move, and the 31-year-old receiver is still one of the best in the game, but one analyst doesn’t think he’s going anywhere. Yet.
According to CBS Sports’ Jeff Kerr, the Dolphins will look to stay the course and hold on to Tyreek Hill entering the 2025 NFL season, which is positive news for a team in need of positive news.
“Hill voiced his displeasure last season in Miami and has three years remaining on his four-year, $120 million contract. The locker room culture had to affect him, along with the constant inconsistencies of the offense when Tua Tagovailoa was injured.” Kerr writes, “When Tagovailoa plays, Hill is one of the most productive receivers in football -- but the 31-year-old Hill can be productive for any team.”

The connection between Hill and Tagovailoa can’t be understated. When they’re healthy and firing, the two have one of the best connections in the NFL. In his first two seasons with the Dolphins, Hill caught 238 passes for 3509 yards and 20 touchdowns, with Tagovailoa delivering most of those targets to Hill.
A trade isn’t off the table, though. The Dolphins have already made several moves this offseason, and Hill’s status with the team isn’t iron-clad. The five-team All-Pro receiver has been frustrated with the Dolphins in the past, and noticeably left Tagovailoa off his list of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
However, Kerr thinks that move doesn’t happen yet, “Perhaps Hill forces a trade out of Miami at some point, but it won't be in training camp. The Dolphins are still playoff contenders when their offensive stars are healthy, and this is a make it-or-break it year for Mike McDaniel. They'll stay the course at the start of the year.” Kerr adds.
Even with all of the moves made this offseason, the Dolphins still believe they’re contenders in 2025. That means, for now at least, that Hill isn’t going anywhere. Though that can all change in the blink of an eye.
