San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson has as of Wednesday reached a resolution in his DUI case.
Robinson, as first reported by TMZ, will avoid serving any jail time. But he has been sentenced to 36 months of probation and $390 fine.
Per the TMZ report, Robinson, 30, must also complete several programs as part of the sentencing.
Robinson - then a member of the Los Angeles Rams - was initially charged with the DUI on Nov. 25. He continued to play for the Rams at that time.
And what about consequences and punishment now?
The NFL commissioner, by virtue of the CBA, has the authority to literally administer and enforce any punishment on Robinson that he wishes.
Therefore, in play is a fine or a suspension of Robinson that can be enforced now that he is with the 49ers.
We have seen speculation that a three-game suspension is expected. But again, we have seen this sort of situation result in all varieties of punishment and non-punishment.
The 49ers are aware of the possibility of going without Robinson for a time and acquired him will full knowledge of the arrest.
