Lane Johnson Speaks Out on Chasing Eagles Record

It's rare to see a player spend an entire career with one team in today’s free agency and salary cap NFL.

And yet …

The Philadelphia Eagles have enjoyed that luxury with three of the biggest fan favorites of all time..

Fletcher Cox, Jason Kelce, and Brandon Graham have all retired in the last two seasons, with record-setting work across the board for each star. Graham specifically retired with the most games and seasons played in Eagles history this offseason.

There's one more player on the Eagles who has played over 10 seasons with the organization over the last two decades. And he's the last of Philadelphia's "core four" to continue playing.

Over the last few months, Eagles tackle Lane Johnson signed a contract extension through the 2027 season. As he prepares for his 13th season, the All-Pro knows he may never be able to chase Graham's record, but will try it anyway.

On "Good Morning Football" this week, Johnson explained exactly why.

"Yeah, if there were anybody to end in a tie with, it would be (Brandon Graham)," Johnson said when asked if he would attempt to break a tie with Graham at 15 years with the Eagles. "It's crazy that we had a number of guys all together for all of these years. And yeah, I mean, it doesn't feel like No. 13, but here it is. I still feel young at heart, but you know you can't ignore Father Time.

"But, man, I'm still having fun and I enjoy what I do. And I love being around the guys and competing. It's just something that I really love doing, every minute of it."

Johnson is the elder statesman in the locker room for Philadelphia moving forward. It may be difficult to get to Graham's record, but it's obvious that the All-Pro tackle is ready to give it one legend-making try.
