Scott McTominay wants the 'absolute best' for Man Utd one year after exit, 'I'll be with them...'

Napoli star Scott McTominay has opened up on his feelings towards Manchester United, a year after leaving the club.

It has been a rollercoaster ride for Scott McTominay. From playing a bit part role at Manchester United to becoming the star of Napoli’s Serie A-winning side last season.

The Scotland international showed the world that he could become a star in a league respected across the world, even though he was unable to reach those heights during his time at Old Trafford.

That said, McTominay did win the FA Cup and League Cup as a United player. He was unable to deliver the league title like he did under Antonio Conte in Italy.

McTominay will forever be remembered as a hero in Naples, especially after being voted the Serie A’s Most Valuable Player for his efforts.

Scott McTominay wants the ‘best’ for Manchester United

While McTominay won the Serie A title with Napoli, United were struggling on the pitch.

United lost the Europa League final before finishing 15th in the Premier League.

McTominay maintains that he will always want the best for his former club, especially after spending a large chunk of his life at Old Trafford and becoming an academy graduate.

Speaking to BBC Sport at Wimbledon, McTominay said: “I always want the absolute best for Manchester United, it’s been my life for 22-23 years.

“For me, I wish the club all the success in the world and I’ll be with them every step of the way. I want them to do well.”

Ruben Amorim never got to work with McTominay because he was sold before the Portuguese coach arrived at the club. He is now trying to rediscover a way to provide the goals McTominay brought to the team during the season before his exit.

Matheus Cunha joined from Wolves and Ineos are trying to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

McTominay enjoys Wimbledon before returning to Napoli

Before returning to Italy ahead of the new season, McTominay took his mum as a guest to enjoy the sunshine and tennis at Wimbledon.

McTominay captioned a post containing several photos with a reference to his current club Napoli: “Neapolitan Style.”

Former United coach Benni McCarthy was among those to comment as he complimented the midfielder on his outfit.

McCarthy wrote: “Scotty man, loving the style bro.”

McTominay will be trying to help Napoli defend the Serie A title next season.
