Tottenham reach full agreement for Mohammed Kudus

Tottenham have agreed a £55m fee with West Ham to sign attacker Mohammed Kudus

After weeks of negotiations and multiple bids rejected, Tottenham Hotspur have finally found an agreement with West Ham United for Mohammed Kudus.

According to reliable journalist David Ornstein on X, Spurs have agreed a fee in the region of £55m for West Ham attacker Mohammed Kudus. The 24-year-old will travel across the capital for medical and after successful completion will sign a six-year contract at White Hart Lane. The Ghanaian international is set to become the third signing for Thomas Frank since his arrival from Brentford, following forward Mathys Tel and defender Kota Takai.

Since joining the Hammers from Ajax in 2023, Kudus made 65 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals and providing nine assists. The 24-year-old was a revelation in his first year in the Premier League, tormenting defences with his pace, physicality, flair, directness and dribbling.

But he struggled for form under Graham Potter in his second season with West Ham. This limited him to only five league goals, and was often ineffective in the system preferred by Potter, who took charge of the Irons in January and favoured wing-backs over natural wingers.

Mohammed Kudus has the qualities to thrive at Tottenham

Thomas Frank has gained admiration across England for developing flair players during his seven-year stint at Brentford. Forwards such as Ollie Watkins, Said Benrahma, Ivan Toney, Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa and Kevin Schade earned recognition under the Dane’s watchful eyes.

In Frank’s system that gives wingers/attackers license to drift in or hug the touchline as per their liking, a free-spirited player like Kudus could massively thrive. The Ghana star is a fine dribbler, great in 1v1 situations, speedy, agile and can produce things out of nothing, and he could potentially form a fantastic understanding with creative talents such as James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski at Spurs.

The former Ajax talent would also provide Tottenham with the ‘X-factor’ to carve open rigid, well-drilled defences, whilst bringing much-needed competition within the squad.

Spurs also want to add a new striker

The North Londoners are also looking at making a move to sign Brentford striker Yoane Wissa as they plan to rebuild their forward line, with several players expected to move on.

Recent reports suggested that Richarlison would be seeking an exit if Spurs signed Kudus. The Brazilian forward has been injured for large parts of the last two seasons and is understood to have no future at the club under Frank, while club skipper Son Heung-min has been given the greenlight to leave Tottenham as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.
