Devin Booker signs massive $145M deal

Devin Booker agreed to a historic two-year, $145 million extension with the Phoenix Suns, the richest annual salary in NBA extension history. The four-time All-Star remains committed to the franchise’s future after a turbulent season and significant roster overhaul.

Phoenix Suns and Devin Booker have agreed to a two-year, $145 million contract extension, locking in the franchise’s cornerstone through the prime of his career, ESPN's Shams Charania reported.

The deal marks the highest annual salary in NBA extension history, averaging $72.5 million per year, and surpasses the previous record held by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's $285 million supermax with Oklahoma City.

Booker and Suns owner Mat Ishbia finalized the agreement during a meeting Wednesday night in Las Vegas, sources told ESPN via Booker's agents, Jessica Holtz and Melvin Booker of CAA. The deal signifies a full-circle moment for the 28-year-old guard, who has made it clear that he envisions spending his entire career in Phoenix—and winning a title there.

With the new extension, Booker’s total deal with the Suns stretches to five years and $316 million, reinforcing his role as the cornerstone of the franchise. Since being selected 13th overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, he has played all 10 of his NBA seasons in Phoenix.

Booker has also played a role off the court, helping shape the team’s future. He was involved in the Suns’ recent coaching search, even meeting with candidates and backing the hiring of Jordan Ott.

A four-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA selection, and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Booker is now the Suns’ all-time leading scorer. He’s averaged at least 25 points per game in each of the last seven seasons, a feat matched only by Giannis Antetokounmpo during that stretch. Last season, he reached a new level as a playmaker, recording a career-high 7.1 assists per game, alongside 25.6 points and 4.1 rebounds.

Despite his individual excellence, the Suns endured a disappointing 36–46 campaign last season, missing the playoffs and finishing 11th in the Western Conference. That underwhelming performance, despite having the highest payroll in NBA history, prompted major roster changes—headlined by the blockbuster trade that sent Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets.
