There have been big changes at Wolves in recent weeks, and not just with the playing squad.
Wolves need to ensure that Vitor Pereira is given every chance to succeed in 2025/26, after making a superb impression last term.
And in recent weeks we have seen the club put measures in place to hopefully make that happen.
Last month, Wolves instigated a restructure of their recruitment division, with Domenico Teti arriving to reunite with Pereira, after working with him in Saudi Arabia.
Pereira will also work closely with agent Jorge Mendes and his right-hand man Valdir Cardoso on transfer deals.
As part of the restructure, Matt Hobbs left Molineux – but now an intriguing claim has been made about the 45-year-old.

Wolves ended up dissolving the sporting director role which Hobbs held.
And according to Liam Keen, even though the role was dissolved, Wolves did want to keep hold of Hobbs.

But it was his decision to move on.
He said on the latest E&S podcast: “Wolves were quite keen to keep hold of Matt Hobbs, to be honest.
“Jeff gets on very well with him, I think they would have been very happy to keep him on.
“It would have been in a revised role though, it wouldn’t have been as a sporting director. It would have been in this restructure.
“He decided to move on, they mutually came to an agreement and he didn’t stay.
“But he left on very good terms as well, and it’s one of those relationships that he could end up returning to the club in a couple of years, or wherever he ends up next.
“Yeah, left in a very good place, which is a good thing I think, because I think Matt Hobbs did a lot of good stuff at the club as well as having to deal with some difficult situations.”
All eyes on Wolves’ new leadership team
This is such a huge summer for Wolves.
It was recently claimed that ‘the penny had dropped’ at Wolves regarding the need to spend, and fans are waiting to see what they will do.
Fosun have acknowledged the need to rebuild, so hopefully we will soon see this transfer window spring into life.
Seemingly, Hobbs’ desires didn’t necessarily align with Wolves’, and he did not want to stay and be a part of the restructure in a revised role.
While he did make some mistakes at Molineux, he also did plenty of good things and it would not be surprise if he took up another sporting director job in the coming weeks or months.
