Liverpool star has gentleman’s agreement for exit as Bayern eye move – report

Liverpool winger Luis Diaz could be on his way out of Anfield, with Bayern Munich keen to secure his signature this summer.

The Reds have made it clear that the Colombian is not for sale, but Bayern believe that a deal can be done, regardless of Liverpool’s situation following the tragic death of Diogo Jota.

Diaz enjoyed a fantastic 2024-25 campaign under Arne Slot, in which he scored 17 goals in all competitions. The Reds winger has a contract at Anfield until 2027, and per Bild, he is “expected” to join Bayern this summer.

The Bavarian club could face competition from La Liga champions Barcelona for the signing of Diaz. The Catalan giants have already made an enquiry, but doubts remain whether they have the financial power to pull off the deal.

According to a report from Cadena Sar, Diaz has a gentleman’s agreement to leave Liverpool if they receive a fee of around £69m.

Christian Falk told CFBayern that the German giants are only willing to pay €60m [£51.6m] plus possible bonuses for Diaz.

Sky Sports Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri also states that while Diaz is an integral part of Slot’s plans, the Colombian feels he is not being paid properly compared to other players.

The news will come as a big boost for Bayern as they now know that Diaz can be lured away from Anfield at the right price.

Why Bayern want to sign Luis Diaz?

The German giants were keen to sign Nico Williams, but he opted to extend his contract with Athletic Bilbao instead.

Bayern were interested in Diaz’s club team-mate Cody Gakpo, but it appears the Bundesliga champions are more interested in the Colombian because of his versatility and the quality he can bring to the side.

At 28, Diaz is playing at the peak of his form. Bayern are aware that Diaz will not have enough resale value, but they are ready to take a gamble on him as the club look to bolster the team immediately rather than investing in hitherto unknown talent.
