World Cup winner impressed by 'very intelligent' Man Utd wonderkid target, 'He plays very well...'

Manchester United have already signed one high-potential South American this summer, and could be about to make it a double.

Ineos’ transfer philosophy at Manchester United is to sign top-class youngsters from around the world.

This has been the case for over a year, since Sir Jim Ratcliffe outlined a desire to sign the ‘next Kylian Mbappe’, opposed to having to spend big on signing players for north of £100m.

Last summer, United signed Sekou Kone and Chido Obi to fit this bill, with both on the cusp of the first team one year on from arriving.

Meanwhile, January saw Ayden Heaven sign for United from Arsenal. After joining, the teenager instantly became a starter with Ruben Amorim praising Heaven.

This summer has also seen this trend continue already with United signing Diego Leon for £3.2m. The Paraguayan is a top talent and one who arrives from South America with plenty of hype, but he might soon be joined by an Argentinian.

Leandro Paredes praises Milton Delgado

With United having a stretched budget, it might be that Christopher Vivell and Jason Wilcox are given license to go out and sign wonderkids for cheap in order to bolster Amorim’s squad.

In recent days, this has seen United linked with a £9m move for Milton Delgado, with the defensive midfielder tumbling down the pecking order for Boca Juniors.

Delgado is highly rated in his home country and has been praised by World Cup-winning Argentine Leandro Paredes, who has recently joined Boca, as quoted by TYC Sports.

“I see Milton Delgado in very good shape. I saw him play two or three matches on TV and also when we played at Huracán’s pitch in Bahía Blanca.

“I had never seen him in person before, and he plays very well: he’s very intelligent and tries to play vertically. I hope he continues to grow and try to improve.”

Paredes was one of Europe’s most underrated defensive midfielders for the past half-decade, and so he is well positioned to be praising Delgado, and this should excite United if this £9m interest is acted upon.

Paredes might have just replaced Delgado at Boca Juniors

High praise from Paredes on Delgado can now be done in person, with Paredes officially joining Boca Juniors this summer.

Paredes will fly for medical as verbal agreement is done after long talks.

Paredes arrives at Boca as a likely sure starter under the management of Miguel Angel Russo, who has already pushed Delgado down the pecking order, and so this move will only further hinder his development.

As a result, the 20-year-old will surely be looking for a new challenge, and if United presents him with an escape route, he might very well take it.

Delgado would likely be a squad player at Old Trafford; however, this will surely be very tempting and he would have the chance to learn under Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte, who he is a similar player to in terms of his tenacity.
