Tottenham ‘weighing up financials’ ahead of move for Brentford striker

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is keen on signing Brentford forward Yoane Wissa

Tottenham Hotspur have West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus at the very top of their transfer priority list, but he isn’t their only desired target this summer, as the Lilywhites consider a move for another Premier League player.

Spurs are looking to strengthen their squad this summer after appointing Thomas Frank as their new head coach, as they prepare to participate in the Champions League after their Europa League success in May.

The Danish tactician has so far only overseen the permanent signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich and the addition of Japanese defensive prospect Kota Takai from Kawasaki Frontale, but the North Londoners are now moving to sign a forward who he very well knows.

It was reported earlier that Tottenham were interested in signing Brentford forward Yoane Wissa. The 28-year-old has been a consistent performer for the Bees, scoring 45 goals in 137 Premier League appearances thus far. He built a fantastic partnership with Bryan Mbeumo up front last season, with the duo creating and scoring plenty of goals.

Tottenham set their sights on Brentford’s star forward Yoane Wissa, aiming to reunite him with manager Thomas Frank in a bold transfer move.

The DR Congo international finished the 2024/25 season with 19 goals and four assists in 35 Premier League outings. Yoane Wissa has developed into a fine goalscorer under Thomas Frank’s watchful guidance at the Gtech Community Stadium, so it is crystal clear why the 51-year-old manager wants to reunite with him at N17.

Now, according to BBC Sport journalist Sami Mokbel on X, Tottenham are currently in the process of ‘weighing up financials’ attached to a potential deal for Wissa. The Brentford star is open to a move to Spurs.

Wissa showing his readiness to team up with Frank is great news for Tottenham as it will give them a bit of leverage when negotiating terms with the Bees. The Congolese, who is due to turn 29 years old in September, has just a year left on his current contract at the West London club, though the Bees do have an option to extend it by a year.

The Brentford star could become a strong addition to Tottenham’s attacking ranks

Wissa is a Premier League proven, reliable striker who will be expected to make an immediate impact at Spurs if he makes the move from Brentford. The France-born forward can operate on the left flank, through the middle as a No.9 and secondary striker, and such versatility would only benefit Tottenham.

If the financials of a deal for a soon-to-be 29-year-old striker is worth investing, Daniel Levy should not hesitate to sign Wissa.
