Everton’s squad look threadbare at the start of July.

The Toffees released several first-team players and lost some they would have preferred to keep after their contracts expired.

They have re-signed some of these important stars, and now David Moyes can focus on recruiting new players.

However, there are still some squad members who should be considered surplus to requirements, if Moyes can recruit capable replacements.

Below, Goodison News suggests three players who Everton should consider selling this summer if upgrades can be sought.

Everton should look to upgrade Beto

Thierno Barry has signed from Villareal, and as things stand, he’ll be expected to become the main marksman for Everton this season.

It shouldn’t be too difficult to improve upon Beto’s tally of eight Premier League goals.

Everton fans have been patient with Beto, but it’s fair to suggest he’s not a striker who will have Everton challenging for Europe, even as a back-up to Barry.

Beto, 27, has two years remaining on his contract, so Everton should be able to attract a significant fee if they sell him this summer.

Selling Chermiti could be the best for both parties

Youssef Chermiti has been unlucky with injuries.

The Portuguese forward has shown glimpses of quality when he has been available, but not consistently enough to be considered a key player for this season.

Moyes is likely to target more strikers in this summer’s transfer window, which would send Chermiti even further down the pecking order.

A loan move away from Everton would give him a chance to prove himself, although the club should consider selling him if a reasonable bid comes in.

It’s time to cash in on McNeil

Dwight McNeil is a solid Premier League winger. He has been a good servant at Everton. Sean Dyche was a huge fan of his.

But he’s another player who’s not consistent enough to have The Toffees challenging for European places.

The number of goals and assists he provides is simply not up to the level of starting wingers at the top Premier League clubs.

In an ideal world, Moyes would bring in at least two new wingers and cash in on McNeil this summer.
