Jack Harrison’s future set to be decided by Leeds United

With four new arrivals, Leeds United are expected to have made some sales this summer. Yet since the start of the month, there have not been many exits.

Reports suggested that the club made it clear to some players in June that their future lies elsewhere. Some of the names mentioned included Illan Meslier, Sam Greenwood, Darko Gyabi and Joe Gelhardt. Max Wober was among these names, but he made his future public as he told the media that Leeds wanted him to find another club.

The Austrian has now joined Werder Bremen on loan with an option to buy. Wober is the only player to leave on a transfer so far this summer.

Junior Firpo was the only player to leave as a free agent, after Sam Byram signed a one-year deal at Elland Road.

Harrison’s return to the club raised some eyebrows this summer. Many expected him to join Everton on a permanent deal after two successive loan spells. The winger has now joined the club in pre-season training with his future unsettled.

A decision could be made on Jack Harrison’s future soon. This is according to Graeme Bailey, who provided a huge update:

“Harrison’s future is being discussed. We’ll see what comes of it.

“Everton like him and he did a good job for them. Don’t rule it out, but you know, those wages are an issue, especially with Leeds being promoted again.”

Everton interest

At the start of the transfer window, Everton did not consider a move for Harrison a priority. But it seems like the club have now changed their stance.

This week, reports from Merseyside indicate that the Toffees would be interested in brining the 28-year old back on a permanent deal. Everton feel like Harrison would be the perfect low budget signing that would allow the club to spend more on other areas of the team.

Can Harrison have an impact in this team?

In the unlikely event Harrison fails to find a move this summer, could he be considered a part of the Leeds squad for the Premier League? The answer would be no, as Daniel Farke has adopted a much more attacking approach.

And as seen by last season’s metrics, Harrison has now become a defensive-oriented winger. He is no longer productive, nor does he really carry a threat. Leeds would be better off with Gnonto and Ramazani than him.
