Louie Barry rings 'alarm bell' as new Aston Villa transfer red flag raised

Louie Barry would be a transfer “gamble” for Sheffield United.

That’s the view of Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman, who believes Barry is yet to prove he can cut it in the Championship.

The youngster has been linked with a transfer to the Blades after a move to Hull City collapsed.

New United boss Ruben Selles signed Barry on loan from Villa when he was in charge of Hull last season, but he only played four times for the Tigers before suffering a season-ending injury.

"The Louie Barry scenario is very interesting," said Goodman, speaking to

"Ruben Selles took him to Hull City, but he was only able to start two games due to injuries, obviously, but it was still very disappointing.

"Louie Barry is still yet to prove that he can operate at Championship level, so that would be a little bit of an alarm bell.

"It would all very much depend on what it would cost Sheffield United. Whether it be on loan or permanent, they need to find a bargain.

"If it is a gamble they want to take, they have to be sure it's the right one."
