50% loss on way after purchase from Leeds United a year ago – Flop sees price drop

Rennes signed Glen Kamara for around €10m in August 2023, but the arrival from Leeds United didn’t have the impacted expected at the French club.

The 29-year-old was unable to nail down a leading role with the Ligue 1 side after his arrival from Elland Road and things came to a head in the January window.

At that point, the midfielder was sent out on loan to Al Shabab, making a deadline day move to the Saudi Pro League club. They haven’t moved to make the transfer permanent, despite having a clause to do so, and Rennes are now open to offers, less than a year after working to sign Kamara from Leeds United.

French newspaper [Le Figaro](http://lefigaro.fr) reports Rennes are looking to get €5-6m from the move, but haven’t had an offer which matches that yet. Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade, Serbia) are thought to be closing in, but they want to pay €4m.

An agreement should be possible given Rennes want a sale, and are seemingly prepared to accept a big percentage loss on what they paid Leeds United.
