Manchester United finally make another summer transfer, as they sign 15-year-old centre-back after 14-month pursuit.
Teen Defender Chooses Manchester United Over Big-Name Rivals
After months of scouting and talks, Harley Emsden will be joining Manchester United. Although, there was strong interest from top PL clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs, Aston Villa, and Newcastle.
Southampton had previously turned down several offers for the teenager. But, Utd’s efforts has finally paid off. James has made a couple of appearances in the U18 Premier League. He has also been a standout performer for England’s U15s team. He is known for his composure, game reading, and physical presence. The young defender is being seen as a long-term project with high potential.
Man Utd Invest in the Future Amid Senior Transfer Chase
The Red Devils believe they have secured a gem in the youngster. He can rise through the ranks just like Leny Yoro or Ayden Heaven have done at their respective clubs. His arrival comes just shortly after Man Utd’s £62.5m signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves. They have also brought in teenage left-back Diego Leon during this summer window.
However, James won’t be making an appearance in the senior squad any time soon. Though, his arrival shows a willingness by United to use youth and experience in the long term at the club.
The Red Devils are still in race for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo. But, two bids for the player have been rejected already. They have other names in mind such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jamie Vardy, and Ederson from Atalanta. Both Calvert-Lewin and Vardy are free agents.
The rebuild under new head coach Ruben Amorim is underway. With James now on board, Man Utd fans can expect more movement in both youth and senior setups in the weeks ahead.
