Paris Saint-Germain put on a masterful display against Real Madrid at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Wednesday, winning 4-0 to advance to the FIFA Club World Cup final.

The European champions scored three goals in the first half before putting the game to rest in the dying stages. They gave a complete performance; ruthless in attack and suffocating in defence, allowing Los Blancos only 31 percent possession and two shots on target.

PSG wasted no time, opening the scoring in the sixth minute. A heavy touch from Raúl Asencio in his own box resulted in Ousmane Dembélé stealing the ball before sliding it away from Thibaut Courtois to Fabián Ruiz, who slotted the ball into an empty net.

Ballon d’Or front runner Dembélé doubled his side’s lead just three minutes later after another defensive mistake, this time from Antonio Rüdiger, left him one-on-one with Courtois. The goalkeeper stood no chance as the Frenchman buried the ball into the bottom left corner.

The French side’s third goal was created by Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi, who played a brilliant one-two with Désiré Doué before doing the same with Dembélé, allowing him to use his pace to beat Madrid’s defence and square the ball for Ruiz who bagged his second of the day.

Gonçalo Ramos added a fourth in the 87th minute after an impressive display of skill from substitute Bradley Barcola, who found Ramos open in the middle of the box.

The UEFA Champions League winners will face UEFA Conference League champions Chelsea in the Club World Cup final at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
