The Friedkin Group could yet help sway Wesley into joining Everton this summer.

Everton have so far struggled in their pursuit of the Flamengo right-back this transfer window, with Roma reportedly in direct competition.

David Moyes will be eager to add more new faces to his squad following the arrival of Thierno Barry on Wednesday (9 July).

Everton are eager to sign a right-back this summer, with concerns that Seamus Coleman won’t be able to play consistently next season.

Friedkins could sway Wesley into joining Everton instead of Roma

Reports have claimed Brighton had made a £20million bid for the one-cap Brazil international, but Everton have now firmly staked their claim in the race for the defender.

The right-back has also attracted interest from Manchester City.

Wesley’s record for Flamengo this season.

However, Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini has reportedly been a big fan of the right-back since he managed Atlanta.

According to O Globo’s print edition (10 July, page 28), Wesley prefers a move to Rome over Merseyside.

Despite the player being keen on a move elsewhere, TFG – who are also in charge of Roma – could convince the defender to relocate to Merseyside and join the Blues’ ambitious plan.

The Friedkins could easily devise a plan that sees Wesley join Roma before being sent to Everton on loan, helping to bridge the gap until another player is signed further down the line.

Everton must sign a right-back this summer

Given that Ashley Young’s contract at Goodison Park wasn’t extended and Nathan Patterson and Coleman are prone to injury, Moyes must sign a right-back this summer.

Wesley would be the perfect signing for the Blues and could help stabilise their defence.

The 21-year-old would be a huge pull for Everton and reinforce that TFG want to start battling towards the right end of the table again.
