UEFA’s ‘expected’ decision is revealed as Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace learn their fate …

Nottingham Forest are going to be in Europe next season, although which competition remains uncertain.

It sounds strange to say that some six weeks after the season finished, but this is the predicament that UEFA find themselves in.

Right now, Forest are preparing for a campaign playing in the UEFA Conference League, but UEFA are meeting today to discuss Crystal Palace.

The Eagles failed to submit the relevant paperwork to UEFA regarding multi-club ownership in time, and that has led to some uncertainties that they’ve broken the rules.

Forest were given a boost yesterday when Lyon were reprieved of relegation upon appeal. That means they will still play in the Europa League, prompting UEFA into action over Palace.

When UEFA will make decision involving Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace

This has gone on long enough and now The Telegraph have offered an update on the situation.

It’s claimed that UEFA will be making their decision today and intriguingly, they’ve claimed that they expect Forest to be upgraded to the Europa League.

Palace will be allowed to appeal and it would appear that even though a decision is expected today, nothing is likely to be finalised for a few weeks yet.

Some targets might be waiting to see what competition Forest will play in before choosing to come to the City Ground this summer.

However, Forest will still be hopeful that being in Europe, regardless, will make the club enough of a catch for potential targets.

Although the quality of opposition will increase in the Europa League, the nights will definitely be more eagerly anticipated if that is the competition the Reds will operate in.

That said, that competition will be harder to win than the Conference League, with Forest fans already booking hotels in Leipzig for the final!

It’s positive that an announcement will come today, however, with the uncertainty doing nothing for either club.

Clearly, Palace will appeal the decision and if it does get announced that Forest have been promoted to the Europa League, celebrations should be tempered at least until the appeal has been heard.
