Florent Ghisolfi makes contact for Sunderland transfer – Low cost fee put forward

Sunderland director of football Florent Ghisolfi has made contact with Marseille to ask about midfielder Valentin Rongier.

That’s [according to L’Equipe](https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Article/Mercato-l-om-veut-vendre-valentin-rongier/1576850), who say it is Ghisolfi who has enquired with the French side about the midfielder, who may be on the exit list this summer.

The newspaper explains that while Rongier has returned to Marseille for pre-season, how long he remains there is up for debate.

Unlike some of his teammates he hasn’t been sent to train separately but his future at the club is uncertain, particularly as he’s entered the final year of his contract.

The beginning of the year saw all parties pushing for a renewal, but a proposal was rejected at the end of February and matters have not been picked up since. Rongier felt that the offer from Marseille was too low.

That’s led to Marseille making it clear that they’d be happy to sell at the right price, which they’ve set at €10m. Clubs have inquired too, with Sunderland, through Ghisolfi and Como in Italy having contacted Marseille to learn the potential transfer terms. No concrete offer has been made as yet.

Whether Sunderland are willing to pay that €10m isn’t mentioned but they are in the mix, thanks to Ghisolfi, who seems to still have his eye on the French market despite heavy spending there already.
