Leeds United have signed Wales Under-18 international Jayden Lienou on a three-year deal from Manchester City.
The left-back was a regular in the Blues side that won the U18 Premier League North last season, having made his debut for his nation’s age-group against Poland in March. The 17-year-old started his youth career at Everton before moving to Manchester City in 2024.
He is the latest of a raft of Leeds academy transfer decisions made at Thorp Arch this summer. Centre-back Louis Enahoro-Marcus has joined on a two-year deal having left Liverpool after a decade on Merseyside.
This follows the decision to hand winger Harvey Vincent and defender Coban Bird professional contracts this month while goalkeeper Rory Mahady has penned a contract extension until 2028. This comes after the release of a number of youngsters in May, including striker Luca Thomas.
The academy had a fruitful year last season with a number of starlets earning their debuts. James Debayo, Sam Chambers, Charlie Crew and Harry Gray all got their first taste of senior action under Daniel Farke.
Debayo has yet to sign new terms offered to him but is anticipated to ink the dotted line. Meanwhile, the Under-21s lifted the inaugural National League Cup in April.
Leeds United’s statement confirming Lienou as the latest addition to the academy said: “Leeds United are pleased to announce the signing of Jayden Lienou, who joins the club’s Academy from Manchester City.
“The left-back has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Whites, tying the 17-year-old down to 2028 as he now continues his development at Thorp Arch. A regular in City’s side that last season won the U18 Premier League North, Lienou has also represented Wales at youth level.
