Murillo is on a four-man shortlist drawn up as Atletico Madrid’s transfer Plan B.
That’s according to Spanish outlet AS, via Sport Witness, who say the La Liga outfit have been warned off trying to sign Tottenham defender Cristian Romero.
It has been reported that Spurs have flat out rejected Atletico’s attempts to sign the Argentine this summer, which has compelled Diego Simeone to look elsewhere.
AS claim elsewhere is Forest’s rising centre-back star, who is named as one of four options the Spanish outfit are considering.
The others are reportedly Feyenoord’s Dávid Hancko, Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie and Bologna’s Jhon Lucumí.
It’s said Atletico are ‘considering making a move’ for Murillo this summer and that they value the Brazilian at €55million.
Whether Forest agree to that figure is highly unlikely, with Murillo establishing himself as one of their crown jewels since his 2023 transfer from Corinthians.
He has made 75 appearances and it was only in January when he signed a new long-term contract until June 2029.
This is not the first time the 23-year-old has been linked with one of Europe’s biggest teams, the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid have been mentioned in the last few months.
The link comes against a backdrop of a warning from pundit Simon Jordan that with Anthony Elanga set to move to Newcastle United, the Reds could find their stars being cherry-picked and that he fears and exodus.
