Manchester United player could be signed instead of Brighton option – Manager’s dream transfer

AS Roma are working on strengthening their attack and have Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson among their targets.

Earlier today, Corriere dello Sport reported the Serie A side club have found an agreement with Brighton to sign the 20-year-old on loan with an option to buy. They also stated his final approval is needed to conclude the operation.

Another report from Corriere dello Sport says Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini dreams of signing the Manchester United player.

The Denmark international played under Gasperini’s orders at Atalanta, a club he left to join Manchester United in 2023.

It’s claimed the manager has no doubts about making an approach for the 22-year-old if Artem Dovbyk were to move elsewhere. Roma paid around €40m on Dovbyk a year ago and it may not be easy to offload him.

If they do, Gasperini’s dream is to sign Højlund, who is said to be on his way out of Old Trafford. Corriere add Manchester United would be willing to sanction a move for €40-45m and Roma believe they could raise that fee by selling Dovbyk.

Should the Giallorossi decide to bet on the Dane, it would impact their attempt to sign the Brighton player.
