PFF tribe takes another “L.”
Cris Collinsworth may have to take a look in the mirror.
The former Bengals Pro Bowl and Florida Gators All-American receiver is a part-owner of the PFF tribe. Their dumbass grades just make Collinsworth look ridiculous. And a man in Collinsworth’s position can’t afford to be made to look ridiculous.
Joe has been to many combines and to this day, Joe cannot find one person making a living in the NFL who thinks those dumbass PFF grades are worth a toilet bowl full of Jaelon Darden’s waste.
(Joe must be clear: Yes, many NFL teams farm out their quality
control work — stats — to the PFF tribe. And Joe likes the PFF tribe’s advanced stats. Joe’s issue is the dumbass grades. PFF’s advanced stats and grades are two very different things, apples and oranges.)
Recently, Joe has been fully triggered with how the PFF tribe is slandering Bucs defensive tackle Calijah Kancey. The tribe actually thinks Kancey is on the bubble this year — “make-or-break” because, as the PFF tribe is trying to con innocent consumers, Kancey is horrible against the run.
This conjecture flies in the face of Bucs coach Todd Bowles, NextGen Stats and just common sense that sober fans can see for themselves.
Let’s think about this for a moment. You know, common sense. What is Bowles’ No. 1 defensive philosophy? Above all else, stop the run. Does anyone using a piece of their brains think Bowles, who believes stopping the run is the highest trait a defensive player can have, would play Kancey so much if he was this much of a sieve against the run?
Not a chance!
Besides, again, using common sense, if the PFF tribe was right about Kancey being a turnstile against the run, teams would run right at him at least 15 times a game.
Joe is bringing all of this up because Jeremy Fowler of BSPN has a peanut gallery of some 70 NFL suits, scouts, personnel folks and coaches voting on the top-10 players at each position in the NFL.
When choosing defensive tackles, while Kancey was not in the top-10, he did receive some votes from this blue ribbon panel.
Anyone remotely think these men would vote for a defensive tackle that is a one-trick pony? A guy who is worthless against the run?
As NFL analyst Theo Ash said recently in a TikTok video where he broke down how the PFF tribe’s grading system is terribly flawed, those who cite PFF’s dumbass grades, “Don’t know ball.”
