Man Utd have completed the signing of a promising striker in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have completed the signing of French striker Enzo Kana-Biyik in the summer transfer window after his contract with French club Le Havre expired.

The 18-year-old scored nine goals in 18 games for Le Havre U19s last season and was named on the bench twice for the first-team squad. It is understood United fought off competition from Monaco and Lyon to sign the France youth international in their latest impressive addition at youth level.

United have not disclosed the length of Kana-Biyik's contract, but it has been described as 'long-term' and is thought to be for an initial four or five years. The club also announced the teenage striker would be loaned out to Ineos-owned Lausanne Sports for the forthcoming season to oversee his development. It is understood United will look to make more of their links with the Swiss Super League club and could also send teenage midfielder Sekou Kone there on loan this summer.

Enzo Kana-Biyik reacts to transfer

Manchester United fans might need to wait a while before they get to see Enzo Kana-Biyik in action, but they will be sure to keep tabs on him during his loan spell in Switzerland. The 18-year-old is viewed as a player with huge potential and the club believe they have secured an impressive piece of business to sign him as a free agent.

Taking to his personal Instagram account, the teenage striker uploaded a picture confirming his move to Manchester, along with the simple caption: "Glory to God 🙏🏾".

Kana-Biyik follows teenage defender Diego Leon in making the move to Manchester this summer, while the club have also completed the signing of Harley Emsden James from Southampton.

United have made a conscious effort in recent years to secure high-potential youth talent as early as possible, to save themselves millions in the long run. It is believed that by paying a high compensation fee for a talented teenager early on, they can often avoid much larger transfer fees further down the line. Even if they do not go on to make it into the first-team squad, United should still be able to make a profit on youngsters who have been around the first-team frame at Old Trafford.
