Jadon Sancho continues to make life miserable for Manchester United

Jadon Sancho’s Manchester United saga has become a cautionary tale — not just of a failed transfer, but of a player who’s now actively working against his own career, while dragging down the club that paid a fortune for him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have not submitted a formal bid to sign Sancho, despite rumors suggesting otherwise. There have been no club-to-club negotiations with Manchester United. Talks were held only with Sancho’s agents, during which Juve made it abundantly clear: they will not cover his wages.

That detail should set off alarm bells.

A player United want gone — but can’t get rid of

The situation with Jadon Sancho is well past the point of no return. Manchester United do not want him at the club, Ruben Amorim won’t reintegrate him, and even the fans have moved on. For both parties, a clean break is essential.

But Sancho is now actively blocking his own exit, demanding wages that clubs aren’t willing to pay. Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, and now Juventus — all three clubs could use a creative winger of his profile, and all three have turned away because of his financial demands.

Let’s be clear: when even Juventus — a club notorious for inflated salaries and big-name gambles — back out over money, it means the demands are simply outrageous.

The bridge-burner

Sancho’s talent isn’t in question. He was a star at Dortmund, a constant source of goals and creativity. And yet, he has now burned the bridge with the only club where he ever looked world-class, simply because he’s prioritizing wages over the opportunity to restart his career.

Dortmund tried to bring him back on loan. There was interest in making something more permanent happen. But the negotiations collapsed because Sancho was reportedly asking for more than they were ever going to pay. Now, even a feel-good reunion is off the table.

That’s the kind of shortsightedness that’s come to define Sancho’s post-Dortmund career.

Ambition or avarice?

At some point, you have to ask: What does Jadon Sancho actually want? Playing time? Redemption? Titles? Or just a paycheck?

His refusal to adjust his wage demands has sent a clear message — one that’s frustrating the few clubs still even mildly interested. Chelsea gave him a look and passed. Juventus were open to the idea but bailed immediately after hearing his salary expectations. Napoli explored the deal and moved on just as quickly.

He is now pricing himself out of a market that already had limited interest in a player who hasn’t produced consistently in three years. And in doing so, he’s left Manchester United stuck with a player they cannot use, cannot sell, and cannot loan out.

United in a bind

This is a nightmare for Manchester United. They’re trying to rebuild. They’re trying to clean out the mess of previous regimes. And yet, Sancho — a £73 million signing gone spectacularly wrong — remains an anchor on the wage bill and a reminder of dysfunction.

It didn’t have to be this way. But until Sancho starts caring more about football than finances, it’s hard to see a way out for either side.
