The Luis Diaz summer saga has just taken another turn.

Both Barcelona and Bayern Munich are believed to very keen on the winger after Nico Williams penned a 10-year deal at boyhood side Athletic Bilbao.

At 28, after tallying 17 goals and eight assists across all competitions last season, Luis Diaz is approaching the final two years of his Liverpool contract.

There has been little indication that a new offer is imminent.

Now, taking to Instagram, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg first reported that the Colombian has now taken it a step further and submitted a transfer request:

“Diaz submits transfer request! New Eberl talks!” says the Bundesliga insider.

“Luis Díaz has made it clear again, according to Sky-info, that he is open to leaving Liverpool FC should a really exciting offer come.”

“Liverpool FC was informed about this. However, they have blocked everything so far (Bayern, Barcelona, etc.) ”

“Max Eberl has again held talks with the management of Diaz in the past few days (after Monday’s broadcast). According to reports, the Bavarians are sticking to Diaz.”

“However, there are still no agreements or offers. It’s complicated, but the Bavarians are still trying but are also checking other options.”

However, since then, Plettenberg has appeared to back peddle a touch, with an update on X reading that Diaz has only “made it clear” that he is open to a move away from Anfield rather than claiming that the 28-year-old has outright submitted a formal transfer request.

Meanwhile, German outlet BILD have claimed that the Bavarian giants want to spend a maximum of €60 million plus bonuses for the Colombian winger.

This comes after Diaz had reportedly give verbal assurances to the Bundesliga champions.

Even reports from Colombia coming from journalist Pipe Sierra have revealed that Diaz will tell the Anfield hierarchy to offer him a new deal or allow him to depart this summer.

With so many reports coming from different journalists in different parts of the world, there can be no smoke without fire.
