THE DAILY BLOVIATION

Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!
The world keeps changing, but it seems like the Cleveland Browns never do.
As I write this, another AI-based web browser has been debuted, called "Comet", which provides the capability to perform actions based on commands given to an "omniscient" artificial intelligence. "Hey, browser, respond to my last five emails for me... OK, thanks!". This is a big step forward to what's called "agentic AI", which turns AI from a thing you ask questions into something that takes actions on its own.
Cue the Terminators.
In addition to responding to emails and writing presentations, this type of AI will also prevent sports fans from visiting websites. Instead of surfing around to find information about the Browns, fans will be able to say, "Who is likely to be the Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback?" and get an answer. Perhaps it's not a good answer, but it will be an answer scraped off the web.
What purpose, then, do sites like this one serve, other than to provide fodder for AI agents to reuse without compensation? A tough business is about to get even tougher.
The good news for the OBR is that the impact will be felt mainly by aggregators and sites that have relied on manipulating the Google Search algorithm to achieve success. It will increase the value of having original voices and analysis that go beyond the admittedly impressive regurgitative capabilities of current AI models. AI can stumble upon insights, but it cannot truly create. There will still be a place for humans to craft more than what an AI can predict, which is limited by its ability to snap together words based on training.
The challenge for me is to figure out how the OBR survives in this new world. Should I make the OBR a place that rejects the artificialness of AI, or one that embraces the technology to create new applications? My answer is "both", and I won't belabor you with an explanation for what I plan to do.
My brain explodes

The Cleveland Browns aren't as impacted by this world as a small publishing business. They simply soldier on in their monopolistic environment, providing the only source of NFL football in the region. They're engaged in things like fending off lawsuits from folks uninterested in having the state turn over $600 million for a shiny new dome. They're dealing with the fallout of a purported collusion between teams that they helped create by giving Deshaun Watson a ridiculous contract. They're planning on making yet more money by pushing more alternate uniforms.
Most fans don't care about any of this, as we await the next big promotion sponsored by Dude Wipes.
What most fans do care about is whether the team will be competitive in 2025 or the near future. As of yet, the 2025 Cleveland Browns haven't had to deal with the hassle of out-performing other teams, so the news today is hopeful and optimistic, focusing on things like the potential of rookies like Carson Schwesinger and Myles Garrett somehow involved with superhero movies.
Meanwhile, there was a minor buzz about whether the Browns could trade Greg Newsome, which seems oblivious to the thinness of the cornerback group beyond Newsome, Denzel Ward, and Martin Emerson on a team that frequently rolls out five defensive backs. We actually discussed this last night on OBR Weekly, where we dove through the defensive depth chart, and I got somewhat paranoid about the depth in the defensive backfield.
