Same offer once again presented to Manchester United–Still not acceptable

Real Betis have again offered Manchester United the same deal they’ve been proposing for Antony for weeks, with it still unacceptable.

[Diario de Sevilla](https://www.diariodesevilla.es/) cover the situation today, explaining that Antony remains the number one focus for Betis after his successful loan spell last season.

The Spanish side want him permanently, but the numbers of the potential deal still don’t add up for either party. Betis feel they have time on their side on the matter and so are continuing to explore various methods to get their man.

Manchester United are hoping his strong performances last season have revalued him and want around €35m to recoup some of the €95m they paid Ajax.

None of the current proposals have come near that. Betis certainly can’t afford such a figure. Instead, they’ve suggested a loan with an option to buy. That’s no good to Manchester United, who would insist on a mandatory purchase option if they were to sanction another loan.

Part of that is because Antony’s contract is due to expire in 2027 and they don’t want to risk his value being lowered by that point. They clearly think Betis would take the loan, not use their option and try to negotiate again next summer.

Given how the Spanish side have been this summer so far, that might not be a bad assumption to make. So far it has been a case of Betis bouncing between various ideas and proposals they know Manchester United will reject before then coming back to a loan deal again.

The latest of those has now been rejected by Manchester United again, restarting the proposal cycle once more.
