Manchester United have learned directly from Club Brugge chiefs that Ardon Jashari will not be available for any amount of money this summer, with it revealed the midfielder has been left 'disappointed' by this fact.
As a midfielder is on United's shopping list during the summer transfer window they had been linked with Brugge's 22-year-old talent, Jashari. He is fresh from being named the Jupiler Pro League's 2024/25 player of the season with it claimed talks have already been held over a potential deal.
Holding rival interest appear to be Serie A giants AC Milan as it was also suggested they had moved a step further to table a €30m (£25.6m) bid.
Brugge's CEO Bob Madou and sporting director Devy Rigaux, speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, have confirmed the interest from Italy but deny any monetary negotiations taking place. The pair also state together that their player is not for sale under any circumstances.
Madou began: "Is the matter deadlocked? We met with AC Milan. Out of politeness. And without mentioning money.
"Three hours without talking about money was a long time in this case. No, seriously – that matter is the elephant in the room. The elephant in the room.
"Everyone knows what Ardon has achieved, but we don't see this as the end of a cycle as far as he's concerned.
"I'm not saying we won't make exceptions, but there's no amount on the table today that I think would warrant it. You don't just walk out of Club Brugge. We assume he'll stay."
Following up, Rigaux added: "This is part of the summer transfer window. And it's not the first time I've experienced it. [Jose] Izquierdo, for example, wanted to leave at one point.
"You have to make sure players understand why you're denying them something. Is that obvious? No. Can't something like that be reversed? Not that either. We've made it very clear to Ardon what we expect from him."
For United and Ruben Amorim it is clear that a deal seems almost impossible. Milan also look to have been denied when they seem to have been further advanced with their interest.
Brugge admit that their current stance has left their player 'disappointed' whilst explaining the terms in future that will allow them to soften.
"I understand he's disappointed, but it has to be right," said CEO Madou. "I'm convinced he'll make a move to an absolute top club, but today it doesn't feel right."
Sporting director Rigaux clarified: "That he was promised a transfer in exchange for a record fee? We never promise anyone a transfer.
"If there's a point where a player has reached the end of a cycle, and a top club makes a sufficient offer that confirms or exceeds the player's value at that time, then it will happen."
