Douglas Luiz could be about to become Everton’s next star as the Toffees learn what it will take to sign the midfielder.
The Brazilian currently plies his trade for Juventus, having moved to join the Italian giants last summer after a five-year stint at Aston Villa.
Everton are among the sides who are trying to bring Luiz back to England, with the likes of Manchester United and Fulham also keen to explore a deal.
The Friedkin Group are trying to strengthen David Moyes’ hand ahead of the upcoming campaign, amid hope that the Scot could continue Everton’s rise up the Premier League this term.

Juventus could be open to selling Luiz for £25.8million
Everton are understood to have already enquired about Luiz, as they continue their bid to bolster their options this summer.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
The Toffees are yet to make a concrete offer to Juventus, but they have now learned what it will take for them to land the 27-year-old, following the emergence of Luiz’s transfer valuation from Turin.
The ex-Premier League man is thought to be reaching the end of his time with Juventus, who are happy to sell him for a fee in the region of £25.8-30.1million, according to the print edition of Corriere Torino (10 July).
A return to the Premier League is the most likely prospect for Luiz, with Everton among a trio of English outfits waiting in the wings.
Juventus are keen to find a buyer for the defensive midfielder, and a deal seems as though it’s there for the taking if the Toffees are willing to stump up the cash.

Luiz is a more realistic option than John McGinn
Everton have also taken an interest in John McGinn recently, but a move for Luiz seems a much more achievable possibility for the Merseysiders at the moment.
Moyes is understandably keen to bring his countryman to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but Villa seem determined not to sell their captain this summer.
The 30-year-old is a hugely influential figure at Villa Park, and it seems unlikely that Everton will be able to bring him in, given the Villans’ reluctance to do business.

That should see Moyes and Co. turn their attention towards Luiz instead. The 18-cap international established himself as one of the top flight’s finest midfielders during his time in the second city, and he would be an ideal replacement for the outgoing Abdoulaye Doucoure.
It remains to be seen whether Everton will make an offer, but they have been left in no doubt over how much it will cost them to sign Luiz.
