John Terry says Man City have now been doing something for years that 'people are getting fed…

With how successful Manchester City have been over the past few years, it is no surprise that they have admirers and critics in equal measure.

However, City fans will be delighted to have come across kind words for the most part aimed towards Pep Guardiola and his players.

Martin Keown named Guardiola as the greatest-ever manager to have graced the game, which highlights his impact on English football.

Paul Scholes named David Silva as Spain’s standout player across their rich history as well, who was outstanding for Pep Guardiola.

John Terry says ‘boring’ Man City are frustrating for fans to watch

John Terry had his say on Manchester City by claiming that several teams try to imitate their style of play, including his former club Chelsea.

The retired centre-back played in an era where teams in the Premier League were renowned for their direct approach to the game instead of prioritising keeping the ball.

John Terry has now told talkSPORT that due to how teams set up in a low block against Manchester City, watching them break teams down is “boring”, claiming: “Teams play against Man City and you get 11 men behind the ball, it’s boring, Man City try to break teams down and it’s really boring. You don’t see many shots or players like [Eden] Hazard and Joe Cole.”

“So, we started Baller League where if you go over the halfway line you can’t go backwards. It’s getting to that point where people are getting fed up with it.”

John Terry’s record vs Pep Guardiola’s teams

Ultimately, Pep Guardiola might not be too bothered by such claims as his track record at City speaks for itself.

John Terry has played against Guardiola’s teams on three occasions.

John Terry’s Chelsea side beat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side 2-1 in April 2017, a game where he was an unused substitute.

Apart from the victory at Stamford Bridge, the Englishman’s Blues side suffered two defeats against Guardiola’s City and Bayern teams.

Clearly, Guardiola’s methods have helped him when facing John Terry’s direct Chelsea teams.

Considering football is a subjective sport, the veteran has the right to find City’s approach to attacking teams “boring.”

However, Manchester City have often been a joy to watch as well, especially during the period where they won four leagues in a row and when they lifted successive titles in 2018 and 2019.
