Despite scoring 19 league goals last season, people are not convinced about Leeds United striker Joel Piroe. Sources around the club believe he should not be trusted as first choice in the Premier League.
Sometimes, the jump up to the top flight is too much, and some players cannot handle it. That was the thinking in mind when the club added Lukas Nmecha this summer. But Piroe has spoken on the fact that the rumours surrounding him will not change his mindset for next season:

“When you play in the Championship, you know that you’re not looked at as much. But of course it’s nice to hear that you’re not forgotten. I think that if I show myself in the Premier League, they can’t ignore me anymore.”
Despite all this, Leeds are still in the market for a new center forward.

The club started talks with Lecce star Nikola Krstovic. The Montenegro international delivered for his team again last season, scoring 11 of their 27 goals. According to reports, the Whites had an agreement in place over a fee, but the striker was not convinced on a move to England.
He was holding out for a move to a club in Italy, and now the deal seems to have stalled. Leeds sources claim the club will move on because Krstovic is not their main priority.
Callum Wilson drops Premier League hint
Another Leeds target, Callum Wilson, has been a free agent since leaving Newcastle United this week. The 33-year old comes with bags of experience and was one of the league’s top strikers two seasons ago. He lost his place to Alexander Isak, and barely featured this past year.
Wilson was speaking on tv as a pundit for DAZN. He said he would like to return to the Premier League in order to score a 100 goals:
“I mean, obviously, I have ambitions,” the 33-year-old said following links to Burnley and Leeds United.
“I’m close to getting 100 goals and that’s something I’d like to achieve. I still feel fit and hungry.”
The forward is currently on 88 in his career.
Is Wilson currently better than Piroe?
It is quite unfortunate to hear, but for now, Joel Piroe is a better option than Callum Wilson. He is young, fit and not injury prone. Piroe has worked under Daniel Farke and knows the system – he also has a reliable scoring record.

Blowing over a £110,000-a-week on Wilson is not a smart choice as at now.
