Roma have turned their attention to West Ham United defender Konstantinos Mavropanos as they look to bolster their defence this summer.
That’s [according to Gianluca di Marzio](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/roma-mavropanos-news-calciomercato/), who reports that the Italian side are ‘working on’ signing the West Ham defender.
He explains that Roma are continuing their search for a new central defender as new manager Gianpiero Gasperini reshapes the squad he inherited from Claudio Ranieri.
Various names are being looked at and the West Ham defender can now be added to the list. Indeed, the Italian side are working on a potential deal for him.
He joined West Ham in a €20m deal from VfB Stuttgart in August 2023 and has made 68 appearances for the Hammers since then.
He managed 17 appearances in all competitions under Graham Potter last season when he arrived to replace Julen Lopetegui, but they totalled 822 minutes in total. Indeed, in the Premier League he was split between starting and coming off of the bench.
That would suggest he’s not a firm fixture in Potter or West Ham’s long-term plans and that is perhaps why Roma are making moves.
