A move to Real Betis for Antony has seemed inevitable this summer following the Brazilian’s successful loan spell in Spain, however the move may now be in doubt.

With Antony’s stock at Old Trafford declining over time since his move to Manchester United in 2022 for £82 million, the Red Devils are now looking to offload the star for good.

Limited suitors came forward in the winter transfer window, with the star’s wage demands providing a main barrier to any interest.

However, the 25-year-old joined Betis on loan, helping them get to the UEFA Conference League final, being beaten by Chelsea and fellow United reject Jadon Sancho.

Despite Betis’ desire to retain their star man, the LaLiga side have been cautious about breaking their transfer record, with Antony set to become their most expensive signing to date.

The Spanish club haven’t walked away however, still looking at options for Antony, including another loan-spell or a partial purchase of the player.

Now though, Spanish outlet AS has reported that Betis are now looking to Bayern Munich star Bryan Zaragoza as a potential alternative.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan to CA Osasuna, helping the LaLiga side with a singular goal, scored against Barcelona, and six assists in 28 games.

Unfortunately a metatarsal fracture and muscle injuries affected his season, seeing him miss out on ten games, however he seems to have done enough to attract Betis’ eye.

However, United fans need not fear, as the left-winger is reportedly being targeted as a plan B should a move for Anthony fall through due to the amount of moving parts.

To sign the winger in line with United’s terms, Betis need to sell Abde Ezzalzouli to create space on the left-wing and in the club’s budget.

If the sale doesn’t take place, then Zaragoza is a much cheaper option for only £13 million.
